Trip ideas and itineraries are meant as suggestions only. They are intended as ideas and to highlight all there is to see and do in New England.

  1. Southwest, Connecticut: Chic New York Scene
When New Yorkers go out to play, they head for Connecticut shoreline towns, such as Westport and South Norwalk. Known as 'The Gold Coast,' these Fairfield County towns boast charming inns, innovative dining, chic boutiques and personal service.
  2. Litchfield Hills, Connecticut: Luxury Inns & Antique Shops
New Yorkers also love to escape to the Litchfield Hills, where rural bliss is combined with all the comforts city slickers demand: luxury inns, chic B&Bs and superb cuisine, plus the allure of antiques shops and picturesque New England greens.
  3. The Berkshires, Massachusetts: Music, Art, & Dance
In summer, the hills of western Massachusetts are alive with the sound of music. Catch the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s outdoor concerts at Tanglewood, plus modern dance and Shakespeare nearby. North Adams displays leading-edge art at MASS MoCA, while Williamstown has two excellent art museums and a summer theater with stars.
  4. Uncasville, Connecticut: Mohegan Sun Resort
The classy Mohegan Sun has more than 1,500 bedrooms in its 34-story hotel, plus shopping and two luxury spas. The resort includes three casinos: the Casino of the Earth, the Casino of the Sky (beneath the world’s largest planetarium dome) and the Casino of the Wind. Relax with a gourmet meal, then watch a concert or a major sports event in the 10,000-seat arena.
  5. Mashantucket Reservation, Connecticut: Foxwoods Resort & Casino
The stylish Foxwood Resort & Casino boasts four hotels, with more than 2,200 rooms, excellent restaurants, shopping and a classy spa. With six casinos and the world`s largest bingo hall, there is fun for everyone, from the 4,800 slots to the more than 250 gaming tables. Golfers play the two championship courses, both winners of multiple awards.
  6. Providence, Rhode Island: Fine Art, Fine Food and Fine Shopping
The state capital boasts a lively array of art galleries, studios and top-class restaurants, especially in the Italian-oriented Federal Hill district. The region’s third-largest city is a place to stroll along the river and on historic Benefit Street, the ‘Mile of History’ that is lined with some of the finest examples of 18th- and 19th-century architecture in the USA. The downtown shopping is exceptional.
  7. Newport, Rhode Island: 'Gilded Age' Mansions & Elegant Inns
History and the latest racing yachts, luxurious inns and intimate restaurants: Newport has it all. Nowhere has more festivals. In summer, jazz contrasts with chamber music in the mansions from the Gilded Age. During the lively Winter Festival, the mansions are bedecked in holiday finery. For a treat, go for a sail in an America’s Cup yacht.
  8. Cape Cod and the Islands, Massachusetts: Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket
'The Cape,' Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard have long supplied city dwellers with romantic retreats. You know you have escaped the rat race when you see weathered clapboard houses, sand dunes, charming villages and ocean views. Pull up a rocker on the porch, kick back, and breathe in the pure salty air from the Atlantic; shop for antiques and modern crafts.
  9. Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts: Museum of Fine Arts
With the Boston Symphony Orchestra and impressive art galleries, such as the Museum of Fine Art, Boston is one of the world’s most sophisticated cities. As well as stylish shopping on Newbury Street or in Cambridge's Harvard Square, there’s always a must-see play or ballet and a hot restaurant to try.
