The Discover New England Annual Tourism Summit & International Marketplace is an annual conference aimed at educating the New England hospitality industry about international tourism marketing. The conference is held each year in a different New England state.
The goals of the conference are twofold. One, to educate the New England tourism industry on how the international tourism industry operates and how they can be involved and two, for invited international tour operators and receptive operators to learn more about the New England product and experience the destination first hand.
The principal focus is for both large and small tourism businesses to know as much as possible about how they can be part of New England’s fastest growing tourism sector. We invite over 35 international tour operators to attend and engage in one-on-one business meetings with members of the private sector, so that New England companies can develop meaningful business relationships with international holiday operators. It is a valuable opportunity to do real business and understand more about the marketplace without having to travel overseas.
The Discover New England Summit has an enormous advantage over other tradeshows such as Pow Wow International as the focus of the event is clearly New England. As a supplier you are not competing with any other destination within the United States or in the world. You have the attention of the key decision makers who sell and promote the region and who are interested enough to attend a trade event dedicated to the six states.
In addition to the one-on-one meetings, there are several presentations including overviews and trends in the two key target markets of the UK and Germany. The conference also offers the valuable forum of meeting, networking with, and learning from other New England tourism colleagues, including State Tourism Directors and International Marketing staff from the State Tourism Offices of six New England states
Invitations are mailed out to qualified operators in our key target markets of the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Ireland. We invite a combination of Product Managers, Commercial Directors, Managing Directors, Sales Managers and Product Executives. Typically a final list is available approximately one month before the Summit although we are often subject to both cancellations and additions beyond our control.
Approximately one month prior to the Summit, we will forward to you a list of the attending operators complete with a company profile provided by the operator plus the website address for you to research each company and the way they sell and promote New England. You should review this information and start to target the individual companies that you feel best fit your product/business. In this package we also include a ‘How to Summit’ document which provides valuable tips on getting ready for the Summit and your one-one-one meetings. It is essential that you prepare for the Summit by reviewing the profiles and the tour operator websites.
Upon registering at the Summit on Day One, your Summit booklet will have a complete list of tour operators, receptive operators and press along with the profiles and contact information.
We encourage you (and especially newcomers) to attend Workshops on Day One which include ‘How to Summit’ and a Briefing on the participating operators. Both will provide more insight into what you need for your meetings with the operators.
