ABOUT NEW ENGLAND
Say ‘New England’ and up pops an image – a white clapboard farmhouse alongside a red barn, dry stone walls enclosing green fields... Or, perhaps, flaming red leaves in the fall. Or wind whipping through the canvas sails of a windjammer. But what about colonists firing muskets at British redcoats? Or historic universities with shaded quadrangles? Or inventions, from the telephone to the @ on your email address? And did someone say ‘Red Sox’?
Six of America’s original 13 states make up New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Tucked in the northeast corner of the USA, each is different in character, landscape and history. But they are united in offering a warm welcome, built on years of hospitality, best enjoyed in that New England institution: a country inn or bed-and-breakfast.
Visit for a weekend city break or a lazy summer vacation on the beach; ski and board in America’s original winter paradise; stroll through America’s best art galleries and museums; eat at leading-edge restaurants or seaside lobster shacks. Welcome to our website: Discover New England.
